In preparation for our poetry folders, I'd like you to visit Dr.Vardell's blog, linked to the left. She is, bar none, the foremost expert on poetry for children. Her work is priceless. We'll discuss your visit to her blog on Monday next.
This is actually a test for posting on the blog, but I looked at her blog information and I really like how she introduces new authors and talks about their works. Her blog becomes a teaching source in itself!
If you're wondering about more poets you can look up for your Poetry Folder, don't forget to study the links Dr. Vardell has up on her blog to the right of it as you scroll down.
This comment is by Sheri Bearden: I thought Dr. Vardell had many good ideas in her blog. Many old and new teachers could get some good ideas from her blog. Also their are many authors and poets she has posted. She has posted about their backgrounds and also posted some of their works that they have done. She seems very knowlegable about what she does and you can see she is very passionate about it as well. That makes me excited about learning about literature and teaching my child and children in my classroom different types of literature as well!
